HOW BRANDGUARD VENTS WORK

Home hardening is a crucial strategy for improving the survivability of structures during wildfires. Every home has vulnerable “points of entry” where embers and flames can enter, potentially compromising the safety of your home. Ventilation is essential for energy efficiency, but when a wildfire is nearby, there is a risk that hot embers may infiltrate your attic, basement, garage, or other openings. Brandguard Vents offers a patented, multi-layered wildfire defense system that prevents embers, fire, and heat from entering your home, keeping your family and property safe during wildfire threats.

OUR MULTI-LAYERED DEFENSE SYSTEM

Brandguard Vents are engineered with several layers of protection, each designed to prevent ember and fire intrusion while allowing for proper ventilation:

OVERLAPPING BAFFLES

Our unique baffle design features overlapping layers that allow air to flow freely for ventilation but trap embers in the event of a wildfire. This innovative approach ensures that even during the most extreme conditions, your home remains protected from ember entry.

INTUMESCENT STRIPS

Brandguard’s proprietary intumescent material is designed to expand in response to extreme heat and flames. When the temperature rises to dangerous levels, these strips expand to seal the vent openings, effectively blocking embers and preventing flames from entering your home. This flame and heat feature provides an added layer of protection, ensuring your vents respond proactively to wildfire conditions.

1/16" fine mesh

Our Ember Resistant Vents include a fine mesh that has 1/16″ openings and placed on the back side of the vent openings. This non-combustible metal mesh is designed to resist heat and flames, further blocking ember entry while still allowing for proper ventilation.

WHY CHOOSE BRANDGUARD?

These three advanced technologies work together to protect your home from ember and fire intrusion, significantly improving the survivability of your structure in the event of a wildfire. Fine mesh alone cannot provide this level of protection. The combination of our ember resistant vents with these three ember defense features, and high-quality materials provides an unparalleled level of protection for your home.

NOT ALL INTUMESCENTS ARE THE SAME...

An intumescent is a material that swells when exposed to heat, effectively sealing off an open cavity and blocking the spread of fire. At Brandguard, we manufacture our own intumescent material in-house, making our fire and ember defense system unique to our products. Our custom intumescent formula features:

  • Intercalated Graphite: The active element that expands when exposed to heat, providing effective sealing against ember entry.
  • Rock Mineral Fibers: These fibers act as a scaffolding or matrix to support the intumescent material, ensuring durability and performance under extreme conditions.
  • High-Temperature Organic Binders: Our strips are bound with high-temp, organic materials to provide reliable protection that won’t degrade under fire conditions.

Our formula is award winning and industry-leading, offering superior protection for homes at risk of wildfire. Used globally in military defense products, Brandguard’s reputation for unmatched protection is backed by cutting-edge technology and materials.
